Knowledge on health and medical informatics in developing countries is scarce. This health informatics journal has therefore been launched to focus on and promote research, experience and discussions related to health informatics in developing countries. Authors from developing countries are particularly encouraged to contribute in this area

The journal comprises of journal and review articles. In line with the ethos of its publishers, the journal operates on a Free Access Policy.  Readers can view and download articles without any cost or registration.

The Journal of Health Informatics in Developing Countries (JHIDC) publishes two volumes every year, in December and in June.

The Current section contains the volume that is open to submissions, to which submissions are added as they are received (once they have been reviewed and accepted).

The Archives section contains all volumes of the journal - those that have already been published as well as the current volume.

The Journal of Health Informatics in Developing Countries is included in EBSCO's newly released databases Computers & Applied Sciences Complete and Applied Science & Technology Source.
